Cabana Macher and El Chupadero

Cabana Macher:

Don't miss the Cabana Macher, just a few kilometres north of Lago Verde.  If you have a car, just go north from Lago Verde, over the roundabout where the circunvalacion starts, continuing north towards Macher.  At the top of the hill, turn left at the roundabout heading towards Yaiza, and you will find this gem about three hundred yards down the road on the right hand side, just after the petrol station.  If you don't have a car, it is well worth the few Euro's a taxi will cost.

Owned by Debbie and Darrin, it is well worth the trip - a wonderful and creative menu, in a great environment.  But you will need reservations (ph. 650 685 662) as they only have sixteen seats on six tables.  Don't miss the duck starter, and save room for desert.  We have been many times, and have been wonderfully satisfied with each trip.  For our money, one of the best restaurants on the island.

(Note this is a non-smoking restaurant.)

El Chupadero:

Set in a truly unique location deep in the heart of wine country, El Chupadero is a tapas restaurant with an outstanding view and fabulous service in a wonderful Spanish Finca.  Occasionally the restaurant will host some local entertainment, which really should not be missed.  Great for stopping in for a snack during the afternoon or early evening.  (Please note, El Chupadero is closed on Mondays)

From Lago Verde go North, over the roundabout where the circunvalacion starts and up towards Macher.  Go straight across the Macher roundabout towards La Asomada.  Stay on that road through town until you come to a T junction.  Turn left and follow that road until you come to another T junction.  Turn left again (towards Uga) and about 3km down the road on the left hand side you will see a driveway that takes you to this wonderful place.  Trust me, it is well worth the drive!!
